Be a Mentor To The Girls in Your Life
Every young girl benefits from the support and mentorship of a woman. Whether it’s your nieces or the daughters of friends, strike up conversations that place a focus on their education, hobbies, and goals. Replace questions like “do you have a boyfriend?” with ones about their favorite classes and extracurriculars. Director Colleen Kosti will be speaking at the UN International Day of The Girl Child, Saturday October 12th, 11:00 – 3:00pm, which will be held at the Wayne State College Community Downtown Campus, Frank Hayden Communmity room, 1001 W. Fort Street, Detroit, MI 48226.
Join in this free International Day of Events from 11:00am – 3:00pm, with light refreshments and special features – focused on Girls and how we all can make an impact around us.
You can also look into mentoring an underprivileged child through a program like QUEEN ESTHER SCHOOL, which provides the opportunity for you to spend quality time with a young girl and matches are based on mutual interests. Some examples of recommended activities include reading together stories of women History Makers and world changers, Tea Parties with etiquette and table manners, beauty spa events and more.
